FATH AR-RAHMAN

Fath- Ar-Rahman with Warattil Institute: Mastering Quranic Recitation

Learn the Basics of Quranic Recitation

At Warattil Institute, we guide you through the process of reading alphabetical letters, words, and sentences step by step. Our program helps you learn how to join letters together and understand the signs of reading, such as short vowels (Fatha, Kasra, and Damma), long vowels (Madd alif, Madd waw, and Madd yaa), Sukoon (stoppage), Tanween (double Fatha, Kasrah, and Dammah), and Mushaddad (double letters). Our courses are prepared by certified scholars to ensure the highest quality of education.

Understanding Short Vowels (Harakaat)

Short Vowels (Harakaat): The plural of the Arabic word Harakah, meaning movement. There are three types of Harakaat (vowels):

  1. Fat-hah: Pronounced by separating the two jaws and opening the mouth. It is placed above the letter.
  2. Kasrah: Pronounced by dropping the lower jaw. It is placed below the letter.
  3. Dhammah: Pronounced by rounding the two lips completely without letting them come into complete contact. It is placed above the letter.

Saakinah Letters

Saakinah Letters: These are stationary letters with no movement. A Saakinah letter either does not have any Harakah on it or has a Sukoon sign.

Madd Letters

Madd Letters: These letters are stretched or prolonged. They include:

  1. Alif preceded by any letter with a Fat-hah on it.
  2. Waaoo Saakinah, preceded by any letter with a Dhammah on it.
  3. Yaa Saakinah preceded by any letter with a Kasrah under it.

At-Tanween

At-Tanween: This is a Noon Saakinah that occurs at the end of nouns. It includes:

  1. Tanween Fat-hah: Pronounced with Fathah on the letter joined to Noon Saakin.
  2. Tanween Kasrah: Pronounced with Kasrah on the letter joined to Noon Saakin.
  3. Tanween Dhammah: Pronounced with Dhammah on the letter joined to Noon Saakinah.

Ash-Shaddah

Ash-Shaddah: This rule turns a letter into two identical letters. The first letter will have Sukoon, and the second will have the Harakah that comes with the Shaddah.

The Importance of Memorizing the Quran

All achievements remain ordinary until you memorize the Holy Quran, which is a true celebration of faith. Allah SWT said in the Majeed Quran:

“وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ”
(And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?) (Surah Al Qamar, 17)

Reading the Quran is highly valuable in the Islamic faith, and we are here to support and help you.
